Don region is famous for the monuments of ancient cultures – Scythian, Hellenic, Sarmatian…  The region may be justly proud of numerous historical and cultural sites, including open-air museums, local history and thematic museums, historical, architectural and art monuments, remarkable historic areas, memorial and ethnographic complexes.

The tour price is agreed upon individually during reservation and registration.

The region’s trademark is the unique monuments of the Don Cossacks’ past. Razdor and Starocherkassk open-air museums founded on the territory of the first Cossack capitals, Azov ramparts, Aksay customs post, triumphal arches, monuments of outstanding atamans in Novocherkassk and many other places of interest will let you get in touch with the original Don culture. 

Archaeological monuments are reminiscence of hoary antiquity that is now represented by numerous primitive people sites, settlements, and burial mound of ancient warriors, fortresses and hillforts. The most significant among them are: Tanais, Elizaventinskoe where the hotel is situated and others. Many burial mounds are of the same age as Egyptian pyramids.  

Widely known are numerous religious buildings (cathedrals, churches, monasteries, mosques and synagogues) that are an integral part of the Don cultural heritage including unique historical centers of the region’s oldest cities – Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, Novocherkassk and the ancient Turkish fortress of Azov.

We are ready to offer:

1. Loop tour around Rostov-on-Don.  Visiting architectural monuments of the city, Rostov Regional Museum of Fine Arts situated in the most beautiful street of the city, Rostov Region History Museum that stores monuments of universal importance and represent the whole history of the Don region. During the tour visitors will learn the history of the former Fortress of Saint Dimitry of Rostov where at the moment the heart of our city is situated, the remarkable story of construction of Rostov theatres and orthodox cathedrals of the Don Capital. And certainly the city embankment where the tour starts from. The tour may be carried out either walking or in a comfortable car.  

2. Loop tour around Taganrog. The gem of the city is the architectural monument of federal significance – N.D. Alferaki Palace. The city trademark is the house and the shop of the world-famous writer Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. The visitors will see the Taganrog Art Museum and the Taganrog Museum of Urban Planning and Urban Life. They will see the legendary stone stairs connecting the downtown with the picturesque embankment – the place where the heroic city dwellers defended Taganrog during Crimean war of 1853-1856. On the top of the stone stairs there is an antique sundial. This sundial and the stairs are a Taganrog’s distinctive feature.  

3. Loop tour around fortress city of Azov. The tour includes visiting the Azov Historic and Archaeological Museum world-know for its unique collection of Sarmatian gold and the skeleton of the ancestor of mammoth, throgontherium, the powder magazine and the Ramparts widely known in Russia.  

4. Loop tour around stanitsa Starocherkasskaya, an ancient capital of the Don Cossacks with a visit to the Cossacks Army Cathedral of Ascension with the unique lime-tree iconostasis, the famous Market square and the famous coaching inn of the Ataman Efremov’s family.     

5. Loop tour around the city of Novocherkassk, the new capital of the Don Cossacks. The city has one of the biggest orthodox cathedrals in the world, the Cossacks Army Cathedral of Ascension, the unique museum of the Don Cossacks history in Russia, house museum of M.B. Grekov, the greatest Russian Soviet painter of battle scenes, museum of viticulture and wine-making and the triumphal arcs of inimitable beauty.   

6. Loop tour around the Tanais Historic and Archaeological Open-Air Museum, the only open-air city of the 3^rd century B.C. in the world. In Tanais there are archaeological excavations and reconstruction of the bridge and the structures carried out in the open air. It will be interesting for the tourists to visit the open-air museum halls too.

The tour can include visiting of the Country Club golf club in stanitsa Starocherkasskaya, Samurgashev’s stables on the left bank of the Don River, Semikarakorsky factory with a workshop and many other places of interest.

Transfer of guests is mostly carried out by the comfortable Ford minibus, and in summer one can get to our cities by a snow-white yacht. At the guests’ option the tour can combine a number of excursions and be transformed at the gust’s request.
